I am sitting in my office during a particularly boring school-day, eating the most delicious lunch and since I am simultaneously bored and happy, I decided to blog about it.
Last night I got called in last-minute to teach a dance class for a teacher stuck in the Dallas airport. Bret stepped up and offered to make dinner. Did he settle for something quick and easy? No. He made me Black Bean Chicken Enchilada Casserole and it tastes much better than it ever has when I've made it. Now I am enjoying the leftovers and thinking about how lucky I am to have such a thoughtful husband.
A little update on our lives:
Bret has done great in school this semester. While he has still spent lots of hours in the classroom, he has also had about 12 hrs per week of time in the hospital learning about wound care, transferring patients, helping stroke victims and other patients regain mobility, etc. He has the rest of this week and then finals next week... AND THEN HE WILL BE DONE WITH HIS FIRST YEAR OF GRAD SCHOOL! He has been hired as a graduate assistant for new first-year class and will get to spend the summer disecting bodies with them again. Bret is a great teacher and will do fantastic in this position. We're still waiting to find out where he will be doing his clinical in the fall but hope that it won't be too far away so we can still see eachother on the weekends.
I have 4 weeks of school left. Yes, I am counting. Yes, I have senioritis. Next year I will be working for the school distric as a Job Coach for the Special Ed program that sends students needing hands-on work-place experience to volunteer sites. I will hop around town all day supervising these students. I'm excited because I need to get out of this school, but I am worried that I will still be bored. Meanwhile, the ballet is applying for grants to hire me as an outreach specialist (to implement various community outreach programs). I will continue to teach all my dance classes and maybe a few more. Hopefully I can do it all.
Other exciting things: My mom is coming to visit next weekend and we can't wait to host her and show her around San Angelo. Also, Bret's sister Karina is getting married in July! Hopefully we can both drive out for the festivities, but right now I have committed to pick a dance student up from a summer intensive in Chicago since her mother won't be available to do it. The plane tickets are already booked. We're hoping that Karina will wake up one of these mornings and decide she wants to get married a few days later. :)
That's our current lives in a nutshell. Well, now my leftovers are gone, my blog post is written, and I am coming to the sad realization that I'll have to come up with a way to fill the next hour and a half. Sigh... Here's to summer break just around the corner!
